So far we have travelled 454.6 mi. 3:48pm and we are still in the state of CA.
This morning we visited and had breakfast with Zia Gina and Myrna in San Louis Obispo. Craig and Sherri Wood stopped in to say goodbye. It was really nice to be able to visit with them before we left CA. Sienna enjoyed playing with Bella and exploring their home.
Thank you, Myrna and Zia Gina for cooking us a great breakfast!
We didn't make it to Pismo Beach. We would have had to tow the trailer down several steep inclines to get there and we decided to spare the Tahoe from that punishment.
Today our plans are to make it to Barstow, CA. It is about a 4-5 hr drive. We are going to stop for the night and then drive about 3 hours to Las Vegas and spend the day there. We would like to have a day without driving but we will see.
I can tell you that the drive through San Louis Obispo and Paso Robles is absolutely beautiful this time of year. There are hills and valleys twisting and turning on either side of the road. There are hills behind those hills and hills beyond those. All of the rolling hills and valleys are covered in green grasses and are sprinkled with yellow mustard plants, purple wild flowers, black-eyed Susan's and occasionally the orange California poppy. There are cows grazing and gnarly, old hollow tree trunks lying abandoned in the fields. I am inspired by the scenery. I want to jump out of the car and spend all day wandering around taking photos. Too bad....it's not going to happen on this trip.
